The story of NoniM Lupus Foundation is one of courage, compassion, resilience and hope. Established in 2016, the Foundation grew from a personal journey with lupus into a commitment to ensure that people living with the condition, their families and caregivers feel seen, heard and supported.
To Every Lupus Warrior
To every person living with lupus, including those whose struggles remain unseen, this Foundation stands as a reminder that your life, your voice and your experiences matter. Your courage continues to inspire our mission.
In Memory of Loved Ones Lost to Lupus
We honour the memory of those whose lives were touched or cut short by lupus. We remember the families who continue to carry their loss and recognise the importance of awareness, understanding and compassionate support.
We especially acknowledge Mrs P. Ziyambi, who shared the painful experience of losing her daughter to lupus at the Foundation’s launch on 12 November 2016.
To Those Who Shared Their Stories
We recognise Ms Joycelyn Barry, who shared her experience as a lupus warrior at the Foundation’s inaugural launch. Her contribution helped establish a space where lived experiences could be heard and understood.
We also honour the young lupus warrior and his mother who shared their family’s journey at the Foundation’s 2017 High Tea in Harrismith. Their story inspired a collective response of practical support from businesses, sponsors and community members.

A Mother’s Love, A Lasting Legacy
When I founded NoniM Lupus Foundation in 2016, I turned my personal struggles into a mission of hope, awareness and support for others living with lupus.
Throughout this journey, my son has remained an important part of my story. He has witnessed the difficult days, the strength it takes to keep going and the purpose that grew from my experiences.
I want you to know that you have always been part of the love and strength behind this journey. The Foundation may have grown into a legacy that reaches beyond our family, but its beginnings will always be deeply personal.
Wherever life takes you, may you always remember that you are loved beyond words, beyond distance and beyond time.
You were part of my story long before this legacy began, and you will forever hold a special place in my heart.
If I had to live this journey all over again, I would still choose the beautiful blessing of being your mother.
